Love Scampi?

Love golf?

If you do then you might see us at the Willow Valley Golf Club in Clifton, near Brighouse where both Stan and I are members and where they also serve our favourite Scampi and Chips.

Willow Valley is fairly unique as a golf club in this area as it features not just one course, but a total of 3; a small nine hole and two full length 18 holes, one of which is regularly used for the Yorkshire PGA Championships (or something along those lines).

Over the summer we normally book at least one day’s holiday from work and a group of us do both 18 hole courses at Willow Valley, one in the AM and the other in PM, stopping for a spot of lunch in between.  This year I decided to treat myself to my favourite Scampi and Chips.

The Question is, was the Scampi and Chips as enjoyable  as the golf?

Scampi Presentation at it's best...

I have to admit that the presentation was good, with the Scampi served in a small bowl or ramekin with a twist of lemon as a garnish.  The peas were green and of a decent standard, but the chips were slightly disappointing, being (I assume) normal pre-cut chips.

Tartare* Sauce was also provided in small ramekin, but as usual, not nearly enough for my liking.

What was below par was the all important Scampi count – A mere seven pieces were served!

Hmmm nom nom nom

To my mind, seven is not nearly enough Scampi, but is that because I’m used to the generous Scampi portions served at the Caddy Shack or because I’m a bit of greedy git when it comes to wolfing down my favourite golden bread-crumbed seafood delights?

I don’t have an honest answer, but what I can say is that the quality of the Scampi was good, although it was let down by the poor quality chips and small serving size.

That aside, I would recommend Willow Valley Golf Scampi and Chips to anyone who happens to play there and requires a Scampi based meal, but perhaps have a starter or a desert if you don’t want to be left hungry..

So now it’s time for the all important score.  Overall I did enjoy the meal, but I’m afraid the final score reflects some of the disappointment I experienced due to the Scampi-less-ness and sub-par chips:
